Learning Organization traits - The Axxess Way

The vision of the community that is emerging at Axxess— the Axxess AgencycoreTM   User Community-- is coming into focus.
The word "community" is derived from the Old French communité which is derived from the Latin communitas (cum, "with/together" + munus, "gift"), a broad term for fellowship or organized society. We intend to more intensely focus on the gift of this coming together.
This community has as its epicenter within this dynamic organism that is the open, “learning organization” company known as Axxess, and then, like waves spreading out in ever widening concentric circles, is being infused into the broader community of Axxess client agencies and their employees, the focused, caring people who are our users.

What is ‘a learning organization’?
Dr. Peter Senge (Director of the Center for Organizational Learning at MIT) once stated in an interview, that a learning organization is a group of people working together to collectively enhance their capacities to create results they really care about. Peter Senge popularized the concept of the learning organization through his book “The Fifth Discipline”.
In the book, Senge proposed the following five disciplines.
1) Systems thinking: Organizations are a system of interrelationships. To become more successful we need to analyze these relationships and find the problems in them. This will allow an organization to eliminate the obstacles to learning
2) Personal mastery: An individual holds great importance in a learning organization. Personal development holds as much importance as commitment and work for the organization. Employees need to grow and work on their own goals.
3) Mental Models: This is the company culture and the diverse theories and mindsets that serve as a framework for the functioning of the organization. Learning organizations look for how these affect organizational development. The Axxess Way is a mental model.
4) Shared Vision: A learning organization's employees all share a common vision. Personal goals must be in sync with the goals and vision of the organization. The Axxess Way is also a shared vision, or functions as guidelines for the achievement of shared vision.
5) Team Learning: The importance of dialogue and group discussion. For a team to learn, they must be in sync and reach agreement.

Axxess is a Learning Organization.
It is important to note that while today the vision for the community applies to clients of the company that comprise the users of AgencycoreTM, the ultimate “medium-term” (5 year) vision for this community will not be contained within the home health field.
However, our focus in the present day will be the home healthcare industry in the US.
Therefore, for us, this vision holds true: “The AgencycoreTM Community” is a group of two or more who interact with one another, share similar characteristics and collectively have a sense of unity.
These people are interacting as caring and knowledgeable home healthcare professional people, living all across the North American continent, who aspire to achieve excellence in their practices.
This community will be ignited and energized by Axxess’ catalytic encouragement through its technology, its online community-building techniques and its fostering of fulfilling relationships among its members who reside in close regional proximity.
The present concept of gathering home healthcare professionals for training and continuing education will continue to be fostered, bringing these professionals - both users of agencycoreTM and non-user/prospects - to central networking forums and symposia, in regional locations across the North American continent.
These symposia will continue to spread the AgencycoreTM community as an ever evolving and growing organic movement across the continent (and the world!) and at the same time, begat a culture of excellence in home health care among its community members. Since the advent of the Internet, the concept of community no longer has geographical limitations, as people can now virtually gather in an online community and share common interests regardless of physical location.
What are common values of the AgencycoreTM community?
The Axxess Way! – These common value based principles foster an ever expanding culture of generosity, innovation, trust, creativity, and positive, encouraging relationship between employees, ownership and clients/users. The Axxess community coalesces around a pursuit of excellence, and a dedication to continuous improvement, in a spirit of collaboration and encouragement.
